PRISONS : NEW INITIATIVES

• Creation of new prisons security force. 836 posts approved, recruitment in progress

• High Security Prison at Mardan being established at cost 1781 million. 709 post approved

• Central Prison Peshawar reconstruction at cost of Rs. 1408 million is in progress

• Central Prison Dera Ismail Khan, at a cost of Rs.500 million is under construction

• Construction of District Jail Hangu at cost of Rs. 264 million on sharing basis with FATA is in progress

• Construction of Hostel for Trainees at central Prison Haripur at a cost of Rs. 200 million is in progress

• Construction of High Security Zones in 06 Jails in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at a cost of Rs. 122 million is in progress

• Improvement of existing Jails in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at a cost of Rs. 153 million is in progress

• Construction / Improvement of Judicial Lockups (Bakhshi Khanas) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at a cost of Rs. 159 million is in progress

• Enhancing Security of Jails in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at a cost of Rs. 348 million is in progress

• Solar Energization of Central Prison Haripur completed while Solar Energization of the remaining jails in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at a cost of Rs. 250 million is under process

• Installation of filtration plants in 11 jails is completed

• Construction of District Jail Swabi at cost of Rs. 500 million approved

• Construction of district Jail Swat, at a cost of Rs.150 million approved

• Feasibility study and construction of district Jail Dir Upper, at a cost of Rs.300 million approved

• Feasibility study and construction of District Jail Nowshera, at a cost of Rs.150 million approved

• Feasibility study and construction of another High Security Prison in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at a cost of Rs. 150 million is under process

• Feasibility study and construction of Sub Jail Banda Daud Shah Karak, at a cost of Rs.150 million approved

• Feasibility study and construction of Sub Jail Allai, Battagram at a cost of Rs.100 million approved

• Feasibility study and construction of Sub Jail Nathiagali, at a cost of Rs.150 million, approved

• Provision of electricity through separate feeders to Central Prisons In KP with a cost of Rs 200 million is under process

• Feasibility study and construction of Admn Blocks and Barracks for Prison Security Force in KP with a cost of Rs 250 million is approved

• Provision of specialized health facilities to prisoners being planned

• Training imparted to prisons staff with UNODC and USAID assistance

• Prisons Management Information System initiated. PMIS is a web based system having database of prisoners & employees of prisons, taken based visiting system, HR management, automated remission system etc.
