“The Province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is passing through a defining moment in its history. Its people and law enforcement agencies have sacrificed their lives to protect its rich culture, history and traditions. It is high time to work for the betterment of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by ensuring peace, good governance and accelerating the pace of socio-economic development”. Home Department under the able and practical leadership qualities of present Home Secretary has taken up a number of initiatives for the good governance not only within the department itself but has also knitted well all of its attached departments like Police, Prosecution, Prisons, Probation and Directorate of Public Safety Commission. The department’s timely coordination and information dissemination during the critical days like those of Muharram, Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi, Nouroze, election days etc speaks volumes of the competent team work. I must appreciate here, that in the aftermath of Rawalpindi incident when there emerged a highly volatile and precarious situation throughout the country, it was the Home department that managed to successfully control the situation throughout the province by information sharing and coordination with Ulema and public opinion makers. The state of the art Provincial Crisis Management Cell made its presence felt and I consider it as another feather in their cap. Home Department is one of the most vital pillars of the civil secretariat. Keeping in mind the good governance initiatives well-defined policies, properly structured strategies and effective and efficient work of the provincial Government, I am confident that this team will keep on performing their best and I wish them success in their future endeavours.
